On Track Reading

On Track Reading offers pre-intermediate students the opportunity to apply

comprehension and reading skills tactfully. It exposes students to various types of texts, from fiction and legends to non-fiction media texts. Hence, develops their ability to respond to different genres effectively and apply in their own production.

In the work that follows, students are given the chance to practice the new skills they have learned. Students are encouraged to respond critically, develop their own ideas and express them successfully.

On Track Reading offers pre-intermediate students the chance to apply comprehension and reading skills carefully and tactfully.

On Track Reading activates students’ background knowledge and relates to their personal experiences.

The units correspond to typical reading lessons, comprehension strategies that are organised into three-part framework; before, during and after reading.

Students learn how to preview the text by surveying the title, illustrations, and unusual text structures.

Previewing helps students make predictions.

Students note down or summarise key points and ideas, organise events and ideas in the text and visualise characters, settings, or events.

A range of subjects to help deliver cross-curricular literacy lessons. On Track Reading develops the student’s vocabulary, reading and writing skills. Engaging fiction and non-fiction texts that are appealing to the age group addressed.

On Track Reading is supplemented with  Audio CDs to complete the set of skills targeted.
